A look and test of the Tesla Spirit Radio

Hello to all! Welcome back to the site and a new article all about the spooky and mysterious Tesla Spirit Radio. The Tesla Spirit radio dates back to the days Tesla, as it is his design. In fact, here are some quotes from Tesla about this “Spirit Device”

“My first observations positively terrified me as there was present in them something mysterious, not to say supernatural, and I was alone in my laboratory at night.”
— Nikola Tesla, 1901

“The sounds I am listening to every night at first appear to be human voices conversing back and forth in a language I cannot understand. I find it difficult to imagine that I am actually hearing real voices from people not of this planet. There must be a more simple explanation that has so far eluded me.”
— Nikola Tesla, 1918

I have been intrigued by this little guy for a while and recently friend who I have hung with since grade school said “I’ll make one for you, no problem”. So away he went and just last night he brought it over to test. When he tested it at his house he said he could not pick up anything but some odd noises, which is what many use this device for. It has the ability to make spooky sounds and reacts to light and energy. To me, this sounds perfect for communication! I was confident I could record voices with this but did not realize we would hear them in real-time.

While a bit fidgety and fragile, this is an interesting device. One one hand, it is very cool to look at..old school and mysterious. On the other hand, using it is a bit cumbersome. The device requires no power so there are no batteries or an electrical connection at all. It will need heavy amplification and gain to work for what I want it for and I hooked it up to my iMacs mic input and use an audio software program to jack up the gain, do some noise reduction in real-time and attempt to clear up the sound. Do to the high gain it was picking up interference most of the time, sometimes in a very loud buzz.

The 1st test last night was interesting as we heard some odd things come through..a gunshot, and a few voices, some of which were replying directly to me. My buddy was getting spooked azartnye-igry and said that I had to be the conduit because he could not get anything to come out in his tests. Who knows, I just know it is a pretty cool device.

If you want to make your own you can. The parts list will set you back about $30 and you can find out what you need at the link below:
